What is a cage net sweep?

What is a cage net sweep?

2025-06-03

In the automated tiered poultry cage system, the cage net sweeper is a specialized tool used for cleaning residuals (such as feed debris, feathers, feces, dust, etc.) on the surface of the chicken cage net. It is not an independent device but a key manual or mechanical accessory in the daily maintenance system of the chicken house, directly related to breeding efficiency and the health of the flock.

Core Functions and Application Scenarios of Cage Net SweepersThe design of cage net sweepers needs to adapt to the structure of the cage net. Modern stacked chicken cages usually consist of welded galvanized steel wire, with a vertical wire gap of 4.5-6.5 cm.

The brush bristles of the cage net sweeper should have toughness and corrosion resistance (such as nylon or food-grade plastic) to reach into the gaps and remove impurities without damaging the galvanized layer.

The core functions include:

1. Preventing Mesh Blockages: Feed dust and wet feces can easily adhere at the intersections of the cage net, obstructing ventilation. Regular sweeping can maintain airflow, ensuring that the ammonia concentration in the chicken house remains controllable.

2. Reducing Equipment Failure Rates: Residuals may get stuck in the automatic feeder tracks, egg collection belts, or the components of the manure cleaning system. Preliminary cleaning with cage net sweepers can reduce the risk of downtime due to blockages in automated equipment.

3. Assisting in Epidemic Prevention Management: Organic residues can easily foster bacteria and parasites. Sweeping can interrupt the transmission chain of pathogens, which is especially critical for preventing coccidiosis, E. coli infections, and more.

Why is cage net cleaning indispensable for automated aquaculture?

Economical: Compared to high-pressure water guns or chemical cleaning, cage net cleaning is quick and cost-effective, suitable for high-frequency daily use.

Adaptability: It can be flexibly used for various cage types such as step and stacked (H-shaped), and can even extend to clean feed troughs and egg trough edges.
